Point TV Brings Arrested Development Television Star Tony Hale to PLNU
Point TV will be hosting its second Film Forum of the 2014-15 school year this coming Friday, February 20th. The film forums are a time for film students, professors, and film junkies to engage in thoughtful and inspiring conversation about media with professionals from the industry. Past guests have included producer Ralph Winter (X-Men series, Star Trek, and others), Dean Batalli (That 70’s Show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and others), Jason Carter (PLNU 2004 alumnus), DreamWorks and Disney (Shrek, Monsters vs. Aliens, Planes and Planes 2), and Short Term 12 producer and director, Destin Daniel Cretton.
This year’s forum will be taking place in Crill Auditorium. The event will be focusing on the television show, Arrested Development. Tony Hale, one of the series’ principal actors, will be in attendance in order to present his work and guide discussion. An episode of Arrested Development will be shown, followed by guided and open question and answer sessions. Snacks will also be served.
Hale has recently gained a strong following while starring on Fox’s smart and scintillating Arrested Development the past several years. He is currently co-starring with Julia Louis Dreyfus in HBO’s Veep. Tony also won his first Emmy in 2013 for his performance in Veep. Hale’s film credits include The Heat, Happythankyoumoreplease, The Informant and Stranger than Fiction. Along with these, he has also acted in numerous other television programs such as Law & Order, Good Vibes, and About a Boy. He will soon be appearing in the upcoming films American Ultra and Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers.
Hale’s recent impacts on Hollywood have been far-reaching. His comedic and carefree persona has captured the attention of many fans, directors, producers, and other creative individuals. His character and charisma have also impacted Caleb Daniels, Point TV’s current Station Manager.
“Tony is a great Christian guy doing great work in Hollywood. I was lucky enough to meet him last year, so when it came time to plan this event, he came immediately to the top of my list of people I would like to have come speak. We're hoping that by bringing him in, he can speak into what it's like to try and be successful in the film industry and be Christian. For those that aren't hoping to pursue a career in the industry, we're hoping it'll be a night of entertaining dialogue.” Daniels explains.
The screening is open to the entire PLNU community, and all who attend will have the opportunity to not only view the feature film, but participate in a Q&A with Hale after the forum. It will occur in Crill Auditorium on Friday, February 20th, from 6-8 pm.
